Main Scientific Directions:

Investigation of Georgian flora: morphology,
systematic, geography, ecology, history, formation of scientific principles
of conservation;

Investigation of vegetation of Georgia: geobotany, ecology, history,
formation of scientific principles of conservation and reproduction;
- Research in plant productivity and immunity basics;
- Physiological and biochemical research and analysis of active-substances-producing
micro-organisms;
Supplementary Information:
Institute keeps rich collection of botanical documents, the principal
part of the collection being herbarium, where more then 1 million
substances of Caucasian flora are secured.See
Institute has branches (research stations) in various parts of Georgia.
The most significant are: Bakuriani high-mountain botanical garden and
Kazbegi ecological station.
