Y.N. Lomouri Institute of Farming

The Institute of Farming named after Y.N. Lomouri was founded in 1956 after reorganization of the Georgian Research Institute of Field-Crop Cultivation (founded in1945) on the base of the Georgian Test Station of Field Crop Cultivation.

Main Scientific Directions:
The Lomouri Institute of Farming is the largest scientific-production center. 10 testing stations and 8 seed-breeding farms are under its control. Institute works on cereals (wheat, barley), maize, soya, bean, perennial and annual grasses, vegetable crops.
Efforts are given at elaboration of modern growing methods, obtaining elite seed, breeding new varieties.
