Mtskheta Selection Station

Date of Foundation:
The Central Selection Station of Georgia was established on the territory of present stadium Dinamo in1929 on the basis Selection Department of Tbilisi Botanical garden in1914, in1933 the station was moved to the territory located between village Akhalubani and Tsilkani, Mtskheta region, were it still operates. In1969  the selection station was subordinated to the Scientific Institute of Farming.

Main Scientific Directions:
Scientific research activities cover breeding of new varieties and hybrids of field crops such as wheat, barely, legumes and fodder grasses, that are cultivable with machinery , producing high quality and quantity outputs, resistant to lodging, resistant to the diseases and pests.

12 persons are involved in research activities , included 6 senior scientists one PhD of science, 4 Masters of science, 3 junior scientists and 3 laboratory assistants
