The Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR), working through ICARDA, have set up a Program Facilitation Unit in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. The unit facilitates the execution of projects and activities coordinated by CGIAR centers like in the CAC region.

Most of the practical PGR conservation work facilitated by ICARDA's GRU in the CAC region would not have been possible without the assistance of the PFU in Tashkent. Thus we would gratefully acknowledge the hard work of the PFU team and the leadership provided in the past by Dr Surendra Beniwal and now by Dr Raj Paroda. In particular we would like to acknowledge the tireless efforts of Dr Zakir Khalikulov who is responsible for facilitating plant genetic resources work in the region.
