Improving Rural Livelihoods through Efficient On-Farm Water and Soil Fertility Management
ICARDA research team together with national scientists of Central Asian countries (Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan) after several technical meetings, supported by the CGIAR, initiated in 2000 a three-year applied research project on soil and water management supported by Asian Development Bank, ADB (RETA 5866). Integrated Feed and Livestock Production Project
IFAD-funded Project on "Integrated Feed and Livestock Production in the Steppes of Central Asia" was initiated in 1999 with a total of USD 1.5 M for a period of three years (September 1999-September 2002). Four countries of Central Asia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, are involved in the project, which include four themes: socio-economics, range management, feed production and flock management. Research activities are carried out in close collaboration with NARS of different research institutes in the region.
